Anatomy of a friend

How do you craft a friend?  How do you create someone who is there for you, thick or thin?  What are these people made of, and how do you get one?  Nobody knows where they come from.   Sheila's came as an enemy when she was a little girl, and remained throughout her life, as a friend.
